What is occupational therapy

Our passion is making you the best version of yourself, reaching functional capacities so you can live a long and loving life. To do this we break down all the skill into 6 categories:

  1. Sensory Processing

  2. Social and Emotional Skills

  3. Gross Motor

  4. Fine motor (refined motor of the eyes, mouth and hands)

  5. Cognition

  6. Activities of Daily Living

From here we break each category down further into the smallest skill so we can determine where the breakdown in skill is coming from and then build from there.

Not all OTs do it this way. Some go in reverse to us. We don’t agree with top down models because it goes against all research on how the brain learns. Plus it doesn’t feel very nice to have someone else determine our values or purpose.

After figuring out where the breakdown is, we work with our clients in a fun and engaging way to build skills without feeling like it’s hard work. This can be hard for our parents to understand so we provide vital information as we take this journey both in session, in caregiver review sessions and though our online training portal.
